V2C exam tips
NuVrachtwagen

The VM2-C truck theory exam is compulsory for anyone who needs a category C or C1 driving licence with Code 95—in other words, to drive a truck professionally. At NuVrachtwagen, you can complete the VM2-C theory course in a single day. What can you expect, and how can you make sure you pass? In this article, we've listed our top tips for the VM2-C exam.

1. Arrive well-rested for the VM2-C course and the VM2-C exam

Since you can complete your VM2-C theory for trucks with us in just one day, it’s very important to arrive at the course full of energy. That way, you can perform at your best and learn the theory covered during the day.

You don't need to study lots of books beforehand: you'll be given all the knowledge and guidance you need during the day, including the course materials. No hours of hard work in advance—you'll learn everything you need to know in one intensive day. Make sure you leave home on time so you don't have to worry about arriving late for the course.

2. Know what to expect in the VM2-C exam

The VM2-C theory exam is the second part of truck theory (after RVM1-C) and is also known as: Theory Exam Part 2, Administration. It tests general knowledge of freight transport. This is important if you want to work professionally as a truck driver.

Although you don’t need to study before the course day, it’s still helpful to know what to expect. The following topics are covered in the VM2-C exam:

  • Safety and environmental aspects
  • Provisions of the Working Hours Act and the Working Hours Decree for Transport
  • Other relevant provisions in transport legislation

3. Keep the VM2-C exam time limit in mind

When you start the VM2-C exam, it's important to know that there is a time limit. You have a maximum of 75 minutes to answer 65 questions. These include not only multiple-choice questions, but also open-ended and true-or-false questions. So it's important not to spend too long on any one question, because you have quite a few to answer within the allotted time. That's just over one minute per question.

Questions you can expect include, for example, what a driver needs to consider in terms of safety when the truck is being loaded, or how many hours a driver is still allowed to drive this week if they already drove 51 hours the previous week. You pass if you answer at least 52 questions correctly. The result is valid for two years, so make sure you complete all the components of your truck driving licence within this time.

4. Choose a provider that also guides you through the rest of the process

You’ve completed your VM2-C theory course, so what’s next? You’re still a long way from the finish line. To get a category C licence with code 95, you also need to pass the VM3-C theory exam. You’ll also need to undergo a medical examination before you can start driving lessons. And finally, you’ll need to find a suitable driving school. We recommend choosing a provider that can guide you through the entire process.
