You’re almost there! After the technical and practical aspects of Modules 1 and 2, it’s time for the “finishing touch”: Module 3-C (VM3-C). This exam is the final step in your professional qualification (Code 95). It covers the rules of the road, your safety and the documents you need on the way. At NuVrachtwagen, we’ve listed the official CBR final objectives for you.

What can you expect from the Module 3-C exam?

The Module 3-C exam is quite a challenge. You’ll get 65 questions and need to answer at least 52 correctly. The material is divided into four key final objectives. While Module 2 was mainly technical, Module 3 focuses on legislation, administration and your role as a professional driver.

Final objective 1: Legislation – Working Hours Act and tachograph

This is the most challenging part of the exam. You’ll learn exactly how long you’re allowed to work and how to record it.

  • Driving and rest times: Everything about the Working Hours Act (ATW) and European regulations. You must be able to calculate daily driving time, weekly rest and the requirement for the vehicle and driver to return.
  • The tachograph: How do you operate the digital tachograph? What do the symbols mean? And what should you do if your driver card is defective, lost or stolen?
  • Basic qualification: The rules concerning your Code 95 and the mandatory 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years.

Final objective 2: Legislation – Documents and access to the market

Drivers are also responsible for important paperwork. Without the right documents, you won’t get across the border.

  • Transport documents: You’ll learn the purpose of the AVC– and CMR consignment note. You’ll also learn how to fill in an international consignment note correctly.
  • Permits: When do you need a Euro licence (Community licence), and what is a CEMT permit or journey authorisation?
  • Customs: The difference between T1 and T2 goods, how the TIR carnet works, and what you need to do when crossing borders outside the EU.
  • Parties involved in transport: The roles of the sender, carrier, freight forwarder and consignee.

Final objective 3: Safety and health

You are the transport company’s most important asset. In this section, you’ll learn how to stay safe and healthy.

  • Crime prevention: How can you prevent your cargo from being stolen and – very importantly – stop illegal immigrants (stowaways) from climbing into your trailer?
  • Accidents: What’s the right order of actions in the event of a breakdown or accident? And how do you deal with aggression or the media after an incident?
  • Healthy lifestyle: The effects of nutrition, alcohol and medication on your driving ability. You will also learn to recognise the symptoms of stress and fatigue.
  • Occupational health and safety: How do you prevent workplace accidents (falls from tail lifts, crushing injuries), and how do you use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes and high-visibility vests?

Final objective 4: The sector and the business

In the final section, we look at the economic side of the profession.

  • The transport market: How does the sector work, and how do you influence costs as a driver?
  • Image: You are the company’s calling card. Good communication with the planner and the customer is essential for sound business operations.

Why is Module 3-C so important?

You can be an excellent driver, but if you don’t understand driving and rest time regulations, you risk fines that can run into the thousands of euros. This module also helps protect you from crime and physical complaints. It makes you a well-rounded, professional driver who knows their rights and responsibilities.

Pass your Module 3-C in one day?

Module 3 contains a lot of dry legal texts and complicated rules. At NuVrachtwagen, we’ve turned this material into an interactive day course full of practical examples. We’ll teach you clever tricks for remembering the tachograph rules and prepare you thoroughly for the CBR’s 65 questions.
